In Diaspora Rises in Support Of Iranian
Kurdistan

The Kurdish community in
diasporas organized peaceful protests in front of the foreign offices of dozen
western countries on Thursday, August 11urgeing them to press the Iranian
government on its ill-treatment of Kurds in Iran in general and its latest
crack-down on Kurdish protesters in Kurdish cities of Iran in the last few
weeks.
In their
series of protests, a large crowd of Kurdish resident of Ontario and Quebec
gathered in front of the Canadian foreign affairs building to urge their
government in Ottawa to use all its means to stop the regime in Iran from
killing innocent Kurdish civilians.
People from the cities of
London, Kitchener and Toronto drove all the way to the nation’s capital to make
their voice heard. There were a lot of Kurdish flogs along with pictures of
regime’s brutalities of torture and humiliation on young Kurdish activists.
They were also holding numerous placards condemning regime’s policies in regards
to Kurds in Iran, favouring regime change in Iran and respecting rights of Kurds
in a free and democratic Iran.
The event started with the
Kurdish national anthem, and moment of silent for the martyrs of Kurdistan
especially the latest victims of these barbaric actions of the regime of Islamic
Republic in Iran in Kurdish cities. The crowd chanted slogans all-along
denouncing regime’s actions in Kurdistan.
Then, a delegation of
protesters was escorted into the foreign affairs building, where Canadian
officials greeted them. The delegation presented its resolution to the foreign
affairs officials to be delivered to the honourable Minster’s office, Mr. Pierre
Pettigrew.
The protesters read the
resolution in both English and Kurdish. The resolution, along with highlighting
the a brief update on the situation leading up to the unrest, and the number of
casualties, urged the Canadian official to take the following measures:
1)
Canadian government should condemn
this act of violence against peaceful civilian demonstrations in Kurdish cities
of Iran
2)
A high-ranking delegation of
United Nation and the European Parliament to visit Iranian Kurdistan.
3)
The retreat of all Special Forces
and troops from Kurdistan
4)
Setting free all detainees,
treating the injured in hospitals, and compensating people with probable losses
of life and property
5)
Brining to justice the
perpetrators and officials responsible for such a tragedy in Kurdistan
6)
Respecting all the articles of the UN
Human Rights Declaration in Kurdistan
