Kurds Leave Their Homes In Mosul
Al Mada- July 26, 2005-
After the Assassination of Many
Citizens, Mosul Kurds Leave their Homes In the City and Move to Northern Regions
Tens of Kurdish families have left their homes in the city of Mosul and moved to
northern regions, for fear of threats that were addressed to them, demanding
them to leave their homes and the city.
This was confirmed by a security source in Nainawa province. He added that
Mosul, for a long time, is witnessing a violence racial wave and organized
assassination operations, which targeted various identities, in addition to the
occurrence of various murders, which targeted Kurds in the city, leading to an
unprecedented mass immigration, especially in the regions, where a Kurdish
majority that work on handicrafts and construction works reside.
Real estate brokers, on the left coast of Mosul, stated that tens of families
have deserted their homes and left Mosul, in various regions, including the
districts of Al Jaza'er and Al Nabi Younes, for fear of being exposed to
attacks, after the increase of murdered Kurds in various regions of Mosul and
also after those Kurds have received murder threats from anonymous entities.
Citizens interviewed by Al Mada have attributed what is taking place in Mosul
that it is within the context of arousing the issue of Kirkuk.
The citizen Hassan Abdel Mutalib said, "The situation in Mosul is getting more
complicate for the lack of law and the fear of Kurdish families from being
exposed to revenge operations, in case the conflict regarding issues that are
related to drafting the constitution in the National Assembly, continued."
Kurdish party identities in
Mosul said that what is occurring is a state relating to the security of Iraqi
citizens in general and that it is not restricted only to Kurds, as the security
condition in Mosul is extremely bad and crime is wide spread, especially murder,
for various reasons.
On the other hand, Kurdish identities in the city said that citizens had the
right to do what is necessary for securing their lives. Nevertheless, this is
taking place coinciding with a political process, which is meant to fail and get
complicated. It is natural that some parties exploit that and spread fear within
society.
A top official in Nainawa province said to Al Mada, "There are actual problems
in this respect, especially after the assassination of 7 mayors of residential
areas in Mosul and the control of armed groups of some areas, in addition to the
closure of various police stations in tense regions, which allows for such
violations and addressing threats of this type. |
