Akre Prison Officially Closed

After the KRG Prime Minister has decided that Akre Prison, which is located in the middle of the Akre city, to be closed completely, today the KRG Minster of Human Rights, Shwan Muhammad Aziz made a tour to the prison and announced the closure of the prison officially.

“Mahata and Maaskar Salam prisons as well, essentially have no conditions of a prison and currently efforts is being made to establish two new prisons for the prisoners in Kurdistan region”, the KRG Minster of Human Rights announced.

“The KRG has decided that all the prison in Kurdistan region will be belonged the KRG Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs which is a vital step towards the understanding and identifying the duties aiming at reformation”, he added.

“That step by the KRG Minster of Human Rights is an important step towards improving the conditions of prisoners in Kurdistan region, the spokesman of the KRG Minster of Human Rights, Nazim Dilband said.
