Kurds vs.
Kosovars

Those of us who
have experienced the reign of aggressive and fanatic central governments could
not be any happier to see the independence of Kosovo. Some writers analyzed the
situation, congratulated Kosovo, and explained why Kurds are behind. Since they
primarily focused on external factors, I found it necessary to bring few
important internal factors to the attention of our people so they remember why
Kurdistan is behind.
An important
internal factor is not recognizing hints. From a cynical perspective many Kurds
might conclude that their leaders in Baghdad have soled out and welcomed Turkey
to attack S-Kurdistan in order to show their loyalty to their oppressors and
keep their own personal power and position. From the same perspective many Turks
might also think their leaders in Ankara have done the same sell out by not
fully occupying S-Kurdistan. However, from a neutral perspective one might
conclude that Turkey is giving a hint to the clueless leaders in S-Kurdistan to
move on and declare independence now.
Prior to the
real Turkish incursion into S-Kurdistan the Turkish officials invited the
Kurdish counterparts to play a virtual war game in Washington and possibly gave
them a hint what options they have. The fact that the loss of civilian's lives
in S-Kurdistan during the past few months of real incursion has been minimal is
consistent with such a hint hypothesis. Turkey might be telling the Kurds we do
not plan to harm your people but you don't understand what needs to be done
next. The Turkish immediate recognition of Kosovo's independence might be
another hint to tell the Kurds to respect themselves and do what Kosovars did.
Since the Kurds
seem clueless, Turkey should have given them a direct hint about many internal
factors that makes Kurdistan remain behind compare to Kosovo. In contrary to
Kosovars whose opponents believe in a different faith, the majority of the Kurds
worship a god that is the same as the god of their oppressors. In contrary to
Kosovars who did not believe in military fight to resolve their conflict, the
Kurdish movement has been dominated by those who are not familiar with any other
method except the one their oppressors are using against them, the military
fight. In contrary to two million Kosovars whose small population and trust in
each other helped them unite around their national interest, the 40 million
Kurdish chiefs think their own small tribes, cities, and villages can rescue the
Greater Kurdistan and seem to have no common sense about what national interest
means. In contrary to Kosovars who were able to convince the free world what
they real want, the Kurds remains preoccupied with making sure their oppressors
do not recognize what the ultimate Kurdish dream is.
I believe as
long as the Kurds do not resolve their internal conflicts and tell the world
what they really want, they are perceived as clueless. As long as they do not
throw their rifles away and use pen instead, they have to hide in friendly but
bare mountains and not enjoy stable settlements. As long as they do not
understand that it is fine to doubt any institutionalized religions in the 21st
century, they become followers of imposed faiths. As long as they want a Greater
Kurdistan first instead of few independent Kurdish states, they have not learned
form the history of independent countries. As long as long as they do not
recognize it is time for them to depend on themselves and say no to their
oppressors, they remain tools for political games. If today the Kurds learn form
the Kosovars or other independent nations to claim their legitimate rights, the
world would recognize they deserve to have one state now and four within few
years.
