Arbil, Feb 28, (VOI) – Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) fighters killed 18 Turkish
soldiers in remote and mountainous areas in Iraqi Kurdistan, a PKK foreign
relations official said.
"PKK forces set an ambush in Zab area's Dojka Mount for Turkish troops which
penetrated the region last week, killing three Turkish soldiers and wounding two
others," Ahmed Danees told Aswat al-Iraq, Voices of Iraq, (VOI), by phone.
"On Thursday, Turkish troops attempted to climb Shirin Mount and engaged in
clashes with our forces, which managed to kill 15 Turkish servicemen," the
source added.
Turkish forces withdrew after the clashes and then launched a heavy bombardment
on the northern areas, the source indicated.
