Your newspaper, never reports about the obvious
abuses of women's human rights in Kurdistan. In fact, in the West, we associate
Kurds with honor killings which is so widespread among them.
If you are more honest, you would report about what is really going on inside
Kurdistan. The practice of honor killing as well as female genital mutilation of
little girls are wide spread in Kurdistan. Recently, the whole world saw a video
of a Kurdish girl, a 17 year old child, being stoned to death by hundreds of
sadistic, psychopathic and psychologically ill, primitive and savage tribal
Kurdish males. The whole world knows about the primitive nature of your tribal
culture that you so keenly defend, or try to hide from the world by not
reporting, unsuccessfully as the Internet exposes your attempts at hiding your
collective criminal violence against women.
According to an Amnesty International report, the freedom of women is curtailed
with the purpose of controlling their sexuality. The report indicates that
according to traditional/ tribal codes of so-called "honor", the conduct of
women has the greatest potential to bring "dishonor" on the family. The threat
of death or violence may be used to enforce these codes within the community. In
many cases deaths are not reported; murders are made to look like suicides and
covered up by families; and women are forced or induced to kill themselves.
The authorities’ frequent failure to thoroughly investigate the violent deaths
of and injuries to women and the tribal/religious codes of honor and mentality,
renders extremely difficult any attempt to monitor and record such crimes. Women
face enormous difficulties in speaking out against sexual violence. If they
disclose sexual assaults, they are perceived as "shameful" for bringing up
"private" matters and may even be regarded as "guilty". Whatever the evidence of
an assault, blame still tends to be attached to the woman. Even those who do not
agree with this attribution of blame may come under public pressure to "punish"
the woman. In practice the concept of "honor" has been degraded to such a degree
that it is used as a justification for a wide spectrum of violent crimes against
women. Women can be locked in their homes, ostracized and murdered for being
victims of rape. This is because Kurdish men do not regard women as persons with
human rights but as merely sexual organs whose activity defines their honor (
whether voluntary or forced i.e even a rapped woman needs to be killed to save
their honor! ). Also, the recent human rights annual report from Kurdistan shows
alarming rate of honour related crimes against women.
In addition to this, a UN report raises alarm on the high rate of honor crimes
in Kurdistan. It shows that 358 women committed suicide by setting themselves on
fire, and 218 attempted suicide with the same method in Arbil during 2003
because of unbearable pressures by male family members. This alarming high
figure in one city alone indicates that this is a serious problem that threatens
the fabric of society. As research proves that a society that inflicts
psychological trauma on women through violence (emotional, physical ), will
produce generations characterised by violence and mental illness. i.e
traumatised women, who are the carers of future generations will produce
traumatised, mentally ill children because of their own trauma, fear & sense of
powerlessness.
The pattern of violence is transferred from mother to child, thus perpetuating
the cycle of violence in society. The shariah legalised oppression and abuse of
women ( mothers or future mothers), is the hidden underlying reason for
terrorism in the Middle East. The high levels of social backwardness and the
abusive nature of tribal/Islamic cultural practices is reinforced by the Kurdish
tribal authorities. The fact that the Kurdish authorities ordered the body of
the 17 year old victim of honor killing to be exhumed in order to investigate
the state of her virginity, indicates that they are preparing for light
sentences against the killers and that a woman's life is not only worthless, but
she is not considered a person with any human rights. She is only a sex organ
whose activity determines the male's honor. Thus they are giving the massage to
the masses, of the importance of the tribal codes of honor.
The widespread honor killing crimes in Kurdistan and among the Kurdish community
in Europe, is indicative of the uncivilised, savage mentality of the Muslim
Kurdish males. They suffer from various psychological disorders, including a
mental illness called phobia of women's freedom & superiority. Autonomous women
who behave as mature adults and make their own life decisions, fill these males
with terror and intense fear of losing control over women who, according to
Islamic shariah laws, are classified as minors ( immature children ) forever!
and who are only allowed to live under the command of a male relative.
A woman who exercises her right to make her own life decisions freely poses a
massive threat to the male's fragile sense of manhood. For this reason, every
year, hundred of women who behave like psychologically mature adults believing
themselves to be equal to men, are killed by male relatives. The Kurdish man's
honor is very fragile and need to be guarded by male members of the whole
tribe/society. In fact, even men with university degrees would automatically
follow conscious or unconscious Islamic and tribal programming.
For Kurdish society is a tribal society with a code of honor defined mainly by
women's behaviour. This is the reason for the whole social taboos such as
regarding an independent woman who lives alone as being a prostitute and the
whole restrictive social laws imposed on women to prevent their freedom and
independent living. Because Kurdish men's easily hurt manhood and honour, does
not reside in their own morality or in the integrity of their personality but in
women's behaviour. Most, if not all Kurdish or Muslim men are insecure
about their masculinity, doubting their masculinity to an extend that a Muslim
man believes, in all seriousness, that a woman is an object who is only allowed
existence in order to give him a sense of power, manhood and honor by obeying
him and living according to his will.
Therefore, he defines his honor as not residing in his own sexual, moral,
personal and ethical behaviour, but in the activity of women's sexual organs.
This definition secures his complete domination and control over women's lives
which gives them a sense of masculinity. Their fragile masculine identity is so
weak that it needs great acts of violence against women who disobey and make
choices freely. See the violence such weak men have created in the Middle East!!
The Muslim and Kurdish man is thus psychologically ill, insecure in his fragile
sense of manhood and like a wild wounded animal, becomes very dangerous if he
feels his` honour ' is damaged.
If you study sociology, you will understand that your current, tribal definition
of honor is inherited from your male ancestors who lived thousands of years ago
in caves. So you, by not examining or re-evaluating and changing this
definition, are proving to be even less intelligent than your distant caveman
ancestors! The cure lies in healing the psychological illness in these men by
mass education, breaking taboos and mass media discussions of the tribal concept
of "honor", helping them to redefine their "honor" so that it is defined as
being located within themselves and that women are owners of their own body with
full rights to be responsible for their own private life. A psychologically
healthy man is a complete man who does not need to control women in order to
feel male. He defines his honor as being related to his own moral conduct, his
own development and ethical integrity as a fully functioning human being. Thus
the cure involves changing your definition of honor and strengthen your fragile
sense of masculinity/manhood to heal the savage, primitive tribal man within you
all.
The fact is that Kurdistan is an Islamic country ( not secular), with shariah
laws ( article 7 of its constitution ) and masculine abusive culture where women
are seen as inferior eternal minors that never grow to adulthood, brainless,
subordinate and slave to men. People in Kurdistan still operate according to
tribal/Islamic customs because the Kurdish male-dominated social structures are
rooted in tribal/Shariah based mentality which encourages the abuse of women who
are seen as mere properties of the males or the family/community rather than as
persons with individual human rights. Consider the following messages that the
Kurdish Muslim man & woman gets about woman's worth & capacities in society:-- A
Quranic verse orders husbands to beat up their disobedient wives ( i.e she
should be punished if she behave like a psychologically mature, adult person
with her own feelings, thoughts, will and needs separate from the husband);- she
inherits half of what a male gets;- her testimony in courts is worth half that
of a male, even if he is blind and hard of hearing;- he can divorce her by just
saying 'I divorce you' and gets custody of children ( despite the
psychologically proven, lifelong trauma and unimaginable emotional suffering
this will cause to the mother & child );- she is considered equal to a minor,
not allowed to make her own life decisions outside the will of a male wali-amr
who is given all the power to make decisions for her (as the adult female is
considered incapable, immature & unworthy of making her own decisions despite
scientific research showing that women's emotional maturity is seven years ahead
of males i.e science has proved the superiority of female emotional maturity
over males).
The abuse of females will continue to be legal
in Kurdistan under article 7 of the Kurdistan regional government constitution.
With all the above messages about women's worthlessness and the supremacy of
males, the Moslem Kurdish woman very early in her life learns not to trust
herself, lacking confidence in her capacities & decision-making, filled with
fear of punishment by the males in the family, she will remain psychologically
infantile, underdeveloped & dependent on males all her life. On the other hand,
the Muslim Kurdish male very early in his life learns that men have supremacy
over women according to Islam, therefore he learns that he can abuse women (
physically, sexually & emotionally ) knowing that he will not be punished.
A woman who is rapped in Islamic country will have to produce four males who
have witnessed the act of rape. if she fails to produce four male witnesses, she
will be stoned to death for adultery!!.. even if she produces the witnesses, the
rapist is spared punishment if he agrees to marry the victim to protect her
family's honor!! Where have any one seen such barbaric criminal law where the
victim is punished, by being condemned to lifelong rape, while the male rapist
is rewarded ? Islam is responsible for your lack of moral, ethical and critical
thinking, backwardness and the primitive, sadistic and psychopathic nature of
your cultural practices. You will remain part of the backward uncivilised Muslim
Middle East. The world will not be fooled by your claims of development,
constructions & personal freedoms. How can that be true when honor killings,
female genital mutilation, forced marriages and the practice of sex with little
girls take place ( the crime of child sexual abuse- where 9 year old girls are
given to old men in marriage by fathers in return for money!!, a practice
allowed under shariah laws, following prophet Mohammad's marriage to nine year
old Aisha).
These widespread and shockingly inhuman & abusive practices against females
exposes the primitive and psychopathic nature of your essentially tribal,
medieval society where every year, thousands of women and girls are killed,
stoned to death, sold in marriage or baby girl's genitals mutilated by savage
insecure males programmed by primitive Islamic and cavemen's moral code. You are
1400 years behind the rest of the world, so wake up, and develop a sense of
urgency to deliver your diseased society from the dark ages into the 21 century.
But off course, if most of you continue with your automatic, conditioned
response ` we are Muslims , Kurdish and don't want imported Western values',
then, there is no hope, and Kurdistan will remain part of the backward,
underdeveloped member of the Middle East, bringing shame and dis-honor to the
human race.
