A strategy for two friend nations

The Turkish government has been threatening Kurdistan and its authority by using the Turkish Parliament and the hatred of a number of its illiterate allies towards the Kurds. They have permitted themselves to interfere in Kurdistan’s internal affairs and to publish statements concerning the future of areas in southern Kurdistan.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his new strategy for 2007, which includes working hard to prevent the establishment of a state of Kurdistan in Iraq, eradicating PKK guerrillas and hindering the return of Kirkuk onto the map of Kurdistan. Instead of preparing plans for economical cooperation and trading with Kurdistan Region, Turkish PM has been plotting to launch war against the Kurds.

Following the Uprising of 1991, and the establishment of Kurdistan Regional Government, Turkish nationalist politicians and organizations have been launching anti-Kurdish propaganda every now and then, which have primarily harmed the Turks themselves.

To face the Turkish threats, the Kurds have to play their positive role, the way they did in rebuilding Iraq. In order to awaken and help our Turkish friends in Turkey; we have to be responsible and behave friendly to clear their vision.

It is important for us to understand the nature of Turkey. That is, not all of the Turks are those whom we see on the borders of Kurdistan, who put on their military uniforms and treat our citizens impolitely and inhumanly. There are also “Good Turks and Bad Turks.” The Good Turks normally are those who are well educated and friendly and they fully and unconditionally support the full rights of the Iraqi people, particularly those of the Kurdish nation.

On the Kurdish side, we have to have a number of English and Turkish media channels to broadcast programs in the two languages to let them understand that the Kurdish experiment in Iraq has not, by any means, created any difficulties for any one. Kurdistan is a rich country and the Kurds are well educated. The Kurds are a friendly people who want to live in peace and prosperity and wanting to be free.

It is extremely important for the Kurdistan Consulate to be opened in Ankara sooner rather than later with the consular position held by a professional diplomat who can build new bridges between Turkey and Kurdistan.

Fortunately, many Turkish businessmen and the rich have been coming to Kurdistan. We have to make better relations with them and to make them understand Kurdistan better and to win their support in Turkey.

Turkey is an important state. The Turkish language and culture have mixed with the Kurdish language and culture. This small number of bad Turkish generals who deny the existence of the Kurdish people will soon come to an end, but the relations and the goodwill between both Kurdish and Turkish nations will last forever.
