Syrian Regime Beats Kurdish Women To Death
Syrian Police Kill Kurdish Woman
In Clashes Over Homes: lawyer
DAMASCUS, Sept 15 (AFP) A Syrian Kurdish
woman was beaten to death by police Thursday during clashes as police demolished
illegally built housing outside Damascus, a rights activist and a Kurdish leader
said.
The incident in Al-Dimas, 25 kilometres (15 miles) west of the capital,
occurred after fighting erupted between police and those who lived in the homes.
"The clash happened as police bulldozers proceeded to demolish illegally
built houses inhabited by poor workers, mainly Kurds," said lawyer and rights
activist Anwar Bunni.
Banned Kurdish group leader Lokman Ousso said the woman was "fatally beaten
by police as she opposed this operation of destruction", adding that two other
women were injured.
No official confirmation of the incident was immediately available. |
