Sulaimani, Kurdistan-Iraq - About 200 persons, mainly from the cultural media in Sulaimani city, have gathered at Azadi Park in the city center to discuss a memorandum that was drafted on behalf of the committee of supervising the popular gatherings, on the spread of administrative corruption, before submitting it to Sulaimani province.

Al Sharq Al Awsat has been informed that the memorandum concentrates on five major points. The scholars demand for 'handling the spread of corruption and solving the problems of the shortage of electricity and drinking water, in addition to the fuel and housing crises." The memorandum has also included reference to other problems that the residents are suffering from, such as the high prices and lack of other necessary services.

After discussions, the majority approved the content of the memorandum and it was decided to submit it to the competent authorities, as it is. Sulaimani governor, his deputy, and the deputy president of the municipality have expressed their support to the style adopted by the scholars in their protest. They also expressed their approval of the content of the memorandum that was supposed to be officially submitted yesterday.
