Open Letter to the
President of the Kurdistan Region
April 13, 2007
Mr.
Massoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region
We the following Kurds and on
behalf of many families and friends in Canada proclaim our strongest support to
your principled and courageous stand in the face of threats from the Turkish
generals, masters of the dictatorial Turkish regime, who relentlessly plot and
conspire to obliterate hopes and aspirations of the Kurdish people for freedom
and peace. We stand by you in your defense of Kurdistan’s right to Kirkuk and
condemn Turkish regime’s insistent interference in the affairs of Kurdistan and
Iraq generally and in Kirkuk in particular.
Mr. President, you have
always extended to the Turkish regime the hand of friendship, good neighborly
relations and constructive dialogue to resolve outstanding issues and disputes.
Unfortunately, your peaceful calls often fall on deaf ears among the Turkish
generals and politicians. The fascist regime of Turkey has consistently
reciprocated your peaceful efforts with the language of threats and
intimidation. We will continue to support your civilized approach to solving
regional disputes with friends and enemies alike.
Mr. President, on this
occasion as we condemn the threats by the Turkish generals to intervene in the
Kurdish Region, we place ourselves and all our belongings under your wise and
heroic leadership in our struggle for a free and democratic Kurdistan within a
democratic and federated Iraq. We wish all Kurdistan freedom, peace and
prosperity and wish you a long life free of harm.
