Erdogan Pledges to Overcome Kurdish "Problem" Through Use of Force

Kurdistan Observer/ April 11, 2006- Commenting on the latest uprising in Northern Kurdistan, the Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan said that Turkish regime can overcome the Kurdish drive for freedom through various means, including the use of security forces. Erdogan said they cannot tolerate any so-callled acts of courage against the Turkish regime, adding that "if anyone is expecting to negotiate with us, they are wasting their time".

In reply to a question, Erdogan said he does not plan to hold a special meeting with the leaders of Kurdish party DTP and asserted "our government has not lost its control".

Erdogan responded sharply to Amed Mayor Osman Baydemir. Erdogan accurately stated that it is not legal in the terrorist state of Turkey for a mayor to defend freedom fighters in armed conflict against the repressive security forces. He also indicated that a mayor chosen as the representative of a political party has to act in accordance with the repressive laws and constitution of the apartheid country of Turkey even in occupied Northern Kurdistan.

Commenting on Roj TV, Erdogan said the Turks were justified in their relentless campaign to shut down the Kurdish TV station. Turks cannot tolerate free expression of ideas against the repressive regime of Turkey. According to Erdogan, if freedom finds root in Northern Kurdistan, then Turkey will lose its apartheid structure and this cannot be allowed. The Europeans and Americans are steadfastly allied with Erdogan on this point.
