Talabani, Barzani and have revealed that they have reached an agreement with Iraqi political parties to postpone elections in Kirkuk which was planned to be held next January until the issue of Kurdish settlement resolved.

Turkish FM Gul criticized Talabani and Barzani for their demand that local elections in Kirkuk be postponed until the issue of Kurdish settlement resolved. "They are not the ones who will decide. They might have some demands as Iraqi citizens; however, they cannot decide when elections will take place. There is a council in Iraq and it will decide on it. That the election is held on a designated date is crucial."

PRESS RELEASE OF PATRIOTIC DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF KURDISTAN (PWDK)

TO THE ATTENTION OF KURDISH NATION

"On the solution of the Kurdish issue, the preference of the entire Kurdish nation will be decisive rather than the preference of a single party!”

The Kurdish Liberation Resistance which was developed at big costs, sacrifices in a long period must utilize the big opportunity to evaluate the historical chance of solution for the Kurdish question.

South Kurdistan has been experiencing new and important improvements in the restructuring period after the collapse of Saddam dictatorship. KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) and PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) are taking new steps in the direction of building a stronger national will and administration. Also a very important period is starting in North Kurdistan in terms of solution of Kurdish issue. From all points of view, there is a need for a national will and resistance in order to lead to solution in four pieces of Kurdistan. No one can carry the responsibility of wasting the historical opportunity in North Kurdistan due to not having a united representative.

Nowadays Turkey is concentrated on the date of 17^th December as the critical day for EU membership and Kurdish issue started to be discussed more and approaches started to be clearer. On the Kurdish side, there isn’t unity in the demands for solution of the issue, which makes Kurdish side to look like having no representative.

None of the single party or organization is the unique representative in the solution of the Kurdish issue. There should be a new organization to be formed, which includes all parties, organizations, circles and personalities. There should be a new organization which should be built on the basis of patriotic and democratic values, as well as will of Kurdish Nation. Solution of Kurdish issue can not be achieved by violence or armed fight struggle anymore. No party has the authority to insist on its single project by using our nation’s name by rejecting other national powers. It is time to act together for achieving the common goal. Solution of the Kurdish question and the interests of the Kurdish Nation is a more important priority compared to single parties or organizations. It is an inevitable necessity to fulfil this project by coming together on patriotic and democratic basis with showing tolerance to each other and creating a unique Kurdish National organization and use this historical opportunity in order to sort out the Kurdish question. Otherwise, the Kurdish question will be solved in a way that the enemies of Kurdish Nation would like, not the real owners of the problem.

The date after 17^th December, which is a critical point in Turkey’s membership for EU, would be a crucial period for Kurdish Nation and we, the Kurds must create a national organization to be the true representative of Kurdish Nation. As PWDK, we find the solution of Kurdish question unavoidable and we appreciate every effort made in this direction.

Our party has proposed its perspectives for solution of Kurdish question both in its official programme and public statements delivered in various times. Most recently, Paris Declaration, which was initiated by many Kurdish organizations and well-known personalities and supported by our party as well, takes account of reasonable demands for getting a solution of Kurdish question. PWDK is determined in overcoming the old political system (PKK) that came from and we are considering realizing the national Kurdish unity so fundamental that PWDK is ready to carry on its own responsibilities to the national agreement.

All Kurdish parties, organizations, NGOs, intellectuals and artists:

The reality of the political circumstances we are in, forces all of us to come and act together. This might seem to be impossible but it is possible and fundamental. Today is the time to prove that we can achieve this. PWDK is calling all Kurdistan forces to come together and to achieve what seems to be “impossible”!

Everything is for Unity of Kurdish Nation and Solution of Kurdish Question!
