The launch by the Austrian Airlines Group of a new direct service to the city of Erbil in the Region of Kurdistan / Iraq, which was originally planned to take place on 12 March 2006, has had to be delayed due to recent flight-operational concerns. Following a re-evaluation of the general situation by Austrian Flight Operations, the Austrian Airlines Group has now decided to postpone the launch of the new service. Although the evaluation and the preparation for the new destination Erbil have been positive so far and the launch has been planned for mid-March, several evaluation phases have been foreseen specifically for this destination.

The launch of the new service is to be put on hold until an as yet unspecified date. Austrianīs interest in integrating Erbil into its scheduled programme as soon as possible remains as strong as before. As soon as the re-evaluation will be positive, it will be possible to launch the new service. The Austrian Airlines Group continues to prepare intensely for the later launch.
