Shia Leader: We Will Be Against Any Endeavor To Undermine Federal System In The South

Shiite UIA Says Will Talk Over New Cabinet With Kurdish Bloc, Sunni IAF

BAGHDAD, Jan 26 (KUNA) -- The United Iraqi Alliance (UIA) on Thursday said would hold talks over the next government with both of Kurdish bloc, and the Sunni Iraqi Accordance Front (IAF).

UIA leader Hadi Al-Ameri told KUNA here, his block has formed two committees for that purpose.

The official, who is also secretary-general of the Badr Organization, which is affiliated to the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) led by Shiite cleric Abdul-Aziz Al-Hakim, added the right of other Iraqi minorities will be taken into consideration at these talks.

He affirmed the UIA wants a coalition comprising the Kurds and the Sunnis, not only one of them.

He said there will be no talks with a coalition led by former Iraqi premier Iyad Allawi that contests the December 15th election results, as "the previous experience does not encourage repetition," he said.

The door, however, will remain open, he noted.

"We with the Kurdish bloc have a majority of over two thirds, but we seek to get others involved," the official added.

"We will be against any endeavor to undermine holding autonomies under federal system in central and southern Iraq," Al-Ameri stressed.

"We will not accept that while the Kurds have a federal system in the north, another rule remains in Iraq, we agree on that with the Kurds," he added.

He also stressed that the Badr Organization will defend Iraq's unity.
