(The Kurdistan Observer) Jan 14, 2002. The Kurdistan Democratic party (KDP) media have paid tribute to one of Iraqi's distinguished citizens who passed away last week in Baghdad.

Hussain Gamil,  the co-founder of the National Democratic Party, was a leading figure in promoting the idea of democracy in Iraq in the last four decades.

Khabat, the KDP daily newspaper in Kurdish, stated that Hussaim Gamil alongside Kamil Gadirchi were the cause behind the Article 3 of the Iraqi Constitution which states that "Arabs and Kurds are partners in this nation".

The KDP media added that Mr. Gamil and Gadirchi remained in touch with the Kurdish national  leader Mustafa Barzani and believed that Barzani's struggle was for a democratic state in which Kurds and Arab could live in harmony.
