A
Letter To Mr. President, George W Bush
January 15, 2002
President George W. Bush.
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Washington DC 20500
Dear Mr. President:
The Kurdish Community Center of California congratulates you for handling
the first phase of the battle against terrorism in a successful and effective
manner. We certainly support your vision of opposing all forms of terrorism
and hopefully the world will eradicate the roots of terrorism this year.
Mr. President, Kurds have been victims of “State terrorism” in their
homeland for many years. It is no longer a hidden truth to the world that
Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Syria have been savagely oppressing the Kurds.
Despite the savage injustices and unspeakable mass genocides, Kurds have
suffered and have not resorted to terrorism.
In Turkey numerous Kurdish cities and villages have been destroyed and
more than two million Kurds have been displaced. The use of Kurdish language
in education and broadcasting is forbidden. According to the International
Human Rights Organizations, Turkey has the world’s most heinous Human Rights
record. In addition, Turkey continues to disregard the initiatives for
peace and brotherhood from the Kurds repeatedly; therefore, contradicting
the most significant principal in Democracy and Humanity. Last week, over
526 Kurdish Students had been arrested by the Turkish military for petitioning
to be educated in their mother tongue, Kurdish. Regardless of their unjust
treatment of Kurds in Turkey, the Turkish Prime Minister, Ecivit and his
barbaric military generals have openly threatened the Iraqi Kurds and are
in support of the Iraqi
dictator, Saddam Hussein.
Mr. President, Ecivit will be meeting with you within the next few days
to discuss their discomfort regarding Iraqi Kurds and the US plans towards
Iraq. We, as citizens of this great nation are confident that you will
uphold the most basic moral principals (liberty, equality, and justice)
on which our founding fathers built this nation. As Kurdish Americans,
we are optimistic that you
will advise Turkey to overcome its Kurdish phobia and accept the fact
that Kurdish people like any other nation have the right to be recognized
in their own ancestral land.
It is of vital importance that Turkey would respect the Universal Declaration
of Human rights and the UN Charters. This need is legitimate and appropriate.
We trust that you and your Administration will work favorably towards the
oppressed nations including the Kurds.
God Bless the United States of America.
Sincerely,
Kurdish Community Center of California. |
