Following two years of dialogue between Kurdistsan
Medical Association and other different Kurdistani organisation with medical
members and subcommittees an agreement was reached to create a single medical organisation for all Kurdistani physicians, pharmacists and dentists. For this
purpose a general unification meeting was organised to approve a constitution,
an emblem and elect executive council members.
On Sunday the 5th of June over a hundred
medical dental pharmacy graduates and parishioners coming from all over UK met
at the Black Suite conference room in British Medical Association house,
Tailstock square in London.
This was the first gathering of medical
professionals in such numbers. What was noticeable was the high purport ion of
young doctors dentists and pharmacists who had graduated from the South
Kurdistan Universities since 1992.
The organisers were hoping for professionals
from North , East and West Kurdistan to attend, but their hopes did not
materialised. After heated arguments on crucial constitutional clauses and
the number of executive committee members the constitution was unanimously
approved and the majority voted for 11 member executive committee. In a secret
vote 11 executive members were elected before the end of the day and the
meeting. Most of those were elected were young and new faces. The emblem of the
Kurdistan Medical Association was kept unchanged.
The KMA is an organisation open to medical
professionals from any part of greater Kurdistan. It is hoped that now the
organisation is up an running professionals from N Borth, East and West
Kurdistan in UK and else where will join.
