"The United States is not only giving active support, but they also take part in the operations," PKK commander Bahoz Erdal told the Firat news agency. Erdal charged that some Iraqi Kurdish groups "are also involved in this ploy" and pointed an accusing finger at Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, a Kurd. "Jalal Talabani's attitude in this offensive is very dangerous. We have information that he has even invited the Turkish army to Qandil,a major PKK stronghold." he said, reported AFP

The President Of Southern Kurdistan Refuses To Meet Rice

President Massoud Barzani, who had been due to fly to Baghdad to meet Rice, will not do so in protest, Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani said. "It was decided that Massud Barzani would go to Baghdad to take part in a meeting with Condoleezza Rice and other officials, but he will not go now as a sign of protest against the American position on the bombings by Turkey. It is unacceptable that the United States, in charge of monitoring our airspace, authorized Turkey to bomb our villages," he told reporters.

• US and Turkey, Back Together Again

Weekend air raids were the biggest Turkish incursion since the US seized Baghdad in 2003. But their significance is more political than military. They mark the moment when Washington and Ankara kissed and made up.  Buyukanit, the chief of the terrorist state of Turkey,  was less coy. "America gave intelligence. But more importantly, America opened Iraqi air space to us. By opening Iraqi air space, America gave its approval to this operation."  More.....
