In a letter to Jalal Talabani and Dr. Barham Salih, Prime Minister of the 
Kurdistan Regional Government in Suleymania, Mr. Barzani strongly condemned the failed assassination attempt on Mr. Salih, and sent his condolences to families of the five guards who were assassinated in this 
criminal act.

" This act of terrorism on Barham Salih is not only against PUK, but it is also against the KDP and the democratic experiment of our nation. We strongly condemn this assault and would like to inform you of our total backing to uproot the terrorists," Barzani said in his letter.

The PUK leader, Talabani, responded to Mr. Barzani's telegram expressing 
his pleasure to Barzani's comments and his hope that the PUK and KDP along with other Kurdish organizations in Southern Kurdistan will fight side by side to put an end to the terrorists and their infrastructure in the Kurdish region.
