*Islamic Iran plans to execute 15 more political prisoners, mainly Kurds

Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan – Finnish committee and Kurdistan Peace Committee organised a joint demonstration in Helsinki Finland. 

On 24.1.2002 Islamic Republic of Iran executed Karim Tuojali in Mahabad city’s security yard. Toujali was a political active, who had a refugee status by UNCHR. The Turkish security forces returned him to Iran in 1998. 

On 29th January 2002 the news of Iran’s plan to execute 15 other political prisoners, who are mainly Kurds, give the message of a coming mass political prisoners executing, which is repeat of 1988 politic when Iran executed 100,000 within three months in jail. 

To protest against the Islamic Republic on coming genocide around 200 mainly Eastern Kurdistan Kurds, contributed in the 21.2.2002 organised demonstration that started at 12.30 pm. from Finland’s Parliament house to Finnish foreign ministry North Africa and Middle East affairs buildings yard. 

At 12.45 Mr. Abdoulmajid Hakki, the representative of KDPI in Finland and International Relation Secretary or Kurdistan Peace Committee gave a speech on Iran’s human rights situation and the situation of prisoners in Iran. After that Mr. Kari Uotila, Finnish MP the chairperson of Human rights group in the Finnish parliament gave a supportive speech on human rights and the demand of Kurdish people for their basic human rights and movement. Mr. Uotila affirmed that he will discuss the demonstration’s demand to his group and the EU delegation of Finnish parliament and will do his best that the basic human rights of prisoners which is their life to be assured. 

The demonstrators’ representatives visited also Mrs. Sari Rautio, the counselor of Iranian Affairs and a representative of Human Rights affairs of foreign ministry. The sites discussed on the human right situation of Iran the situation of political prisoners. The Kurdish site warned about the coming EU-Iran huge business agreement that it might wove EU members to forget the human rights situation in Iran. 

The demand of Kurdish site that demonstrated to Finnish parliament and Foreign affairs ministry were as below: 

We demand that: 

1. The Finnish government, parliament and press to attitude towards the human rights situation in Iran. 

2. We demand an international human rights watch delegation to visit Iranian jails and make sure the possibility of legal proceedings for political jails under the international observers. 

3. We demand that Finnish government send an observation delegation to Iranian Kurdistan’s jail specially Kermanshah, Mahabad, Oromieh, Sanandaj and Sardasht jails.
