In a meeting with members of the military command of peshmerga , the Kurdish leader Jalal Talabani exhorted the Kurdistan defense forces to be vigilant and continue to focus on proper modern training and organization in order to prepare themselves for all eventualities. In his remarks, Mr. Talabani outlined the overall political situation in Kurdistan region, potential developments in the area and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s policy toward the issues. He noted considerable progress in building and enhancing international relations in the recent period. He lauded the efforts of the Kurdistan Regional Government to improve the living conditions of peshmerga forces and establishing a budget for monthly benefit payments to the victims of the Iraqi genocide of Anfal and the gassing of Halabja.
