Following the opening of an air route from Dusseldorf to Orumiyeh in Eastern Kurdistan making travel easier for those going to Southern Kurdistan, Medes Air is now planning to open a new route, reported Al-Zaman newspaper yesterday.

The new route operations will carry Iraqi and Kurdish passengers with European passportsf rom London to Qamishly in Western Kurdistan apparently without the need of a Syrian visa. From Qamishly, passengers will be taken on land directly to Fishkhaboor in Southern Kurdistan.

The new air route should facilitate travel for thousands of Kurds who have been going to Kurdistan via Turkey.  Turkey has introduced new restrictions and has been harassing Kurdish travellers making it difficult for Kurds to enter Southern Kurdistan from Northern Kurdistan.

Medes Air hopes that the new line will become operational soon and that passengers can reach their destinations in Southern Kurdistan the same day they arrive in Qamishly.
