Iraqi Turks Culture and Solidarity Association chairman Kemal Beyatli stated that the Kurdish authorities are preparing for a massacre in Kirkuk according to intelligence reports.

Beyatli set up a press meeting in Istanbul and reminded the "Kurds as the key to Iraq's security" conference held in Washington on June, 8.

Beyatli indicated that some academics who attended the conference suggested support to the Kurds and to give Kirkuk to the Kurds. Beyatli said,

"These academics talk about giving Kirkuk to the Kurds, as it belongs to them. We protest this behaviour." Beyatli, indicated that there is reality in the region and that a Kurdish state which is going to be established will have problems in economy.

Beyatli declared that the only solution for the problem is Kirkuk oil and that western imperialist powers may wish Kurds to control the area. Beyatli said, "we heard that the Iraqi Kurds are planning a massacre. They plan is to attack Kirkuk when the United States attacks Iraq."
