Mrs. El-Yawer and Distressed Chiman Zebari

By: Newal Goyi

Nov 15, 2004

Since Mrs. El-Yawer's marriage, I have read several articles about the marriage. The most recent one was by Mrs. Chiman Zebari who responded to Mr. Koyi's piece.  I as a Kurdish figure feel accountability in some sense about the issue, and at the same time my mother is Barzani who got married to a Kurdish man from the Goyi tribe around the city of Mosul. Since my birth, I have been living in the city we know every one here and there. Therefore, we have been subjected to a variety of conversations about the daily issue in our neighborhood El-Kerame Square. I bring up a question for Mrs. Zebari who lives in Fairfax, Virginia; Have you ever been in Kurdistan or Iraq? I think you are going to say yes. Of course, it is true because you got a respectful position with Titan Corporation as a program manager or whatsoever.   I strongly believe that Mr. Koyi and others are quite right for bringing up the issue because it represents the majority of Kurds whether in Kurdistan or abroad, not just for the shameful marriage but for the disgusted one. I would like to summarize my point of view and at the same time to bring some issues to Mrs. Zebari's attention.

1. Mrs. El-Yawer had been in Baghdad until 1992. If Saddam was in power, I am 100% sure that she would have married a Ba'ath official in Baghdad. Or if Mr. Pachechi was chosen for the Iraqi interim presidency, former Ms. Berwari would have married him because such people do not take age into consideration, they look just for positions!

2. Where are Mrs. Berwari's struggle for Kurdish affairs or she is a Bash-Katib's sister?

3. Has she ever been a KDP member one day? No, she has never been. She woke up from her deep sleeping to obtain higher positions starting from her position at the UN in Erbil with a permission from the former Ba'ath government to the late one!

4. It seems that Ms. Zebari is a fanatic KDP member that is why she has been so distressed by others reactions. I would like to tell Ms. Zebari whenever a man reaches to a point to say no for the errors, at that moment he/she would succeed and strive for better for the self and the people as well. Here, in Mosul and Kurdistan all KDP supporters, members, and even officials call Mrs. El-Yawer's ministry, the Ministry of Shame not Ministry of Reconstruction and Development.

5. Khanzade Soran, Martyr Margarate, Hepsekhani Neqib, Khedije Bawe of Erbil, Martyr Layla Qasim, The Orphans' mothers of Anfal Campains, the Mothers of Martyr Halabje, the Barzani Widowers of Qushtape, Sebiran, Baherke, Herir, Diana and Gorretoo, and Layla Zana   were/are the true Kurdish models not Mrs. Nasrin Mustafa Siddiq El-Yawer!

6. Thanks the Mighty God, she was not assassinated by the terrorists in Mosul and become a Kurdish heroine and mourn her for several weeks. Her essence was revealed for all!

7. Whatever she did during her position at the Kurdistan Regional Government as a minister of reconstruction and development, were not her virtues but Martyr Franso Heriri's!

8. If a people like Kurds would obtain their rights through a disgusted marriage, I think the Kurds could get the rights when Khairalah El-Telfah got married to a Zakhoyi girl, or when Ahmed Hassan El-Bakir's son got married to one of the daughters of Hashim El-3eqrawi!

9. It would have been an honorable marriage for former Mrs. Berwari to marry a PUK member and put an end to the rivalry between  KDP and PUK fractions.

10. Please , please Ms. Zebari do not bring up such issues and do not defend such people. If you do, I will provide you with more information in the future.

11. As I am a Kurdish figure, I have a suggestion/initiation for both KDP and PUK to form a monitoring commission to select those people who would be given higher positions!
