MILLIYET, (a
Turkish daily newpaper) said, referring to Massoud Barzani, the leader of
Northern Iraq's Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP): "The two faces of the
Kurdish leader - The 'Kurdistan maps' available at the Internet sites of the
KDP representatives bureaus in Spain and Greece, portray as 'Kurdistan' part
of Turkey as well. Their 'Kurdistan' goes all the way -- almost down to
Ankara. These maps -- portraying as Kurdistan the Malatya, Elazig, Van,
Hakkari, Siirt, Batman, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Kars, Hatay and Gaziantep
provinces of Turkey -- clearly show that Barzani covets part of Turkish
territory. Obviously because Barzani is wary of Turkey's reaction, the
internet site of the KDP representation bureau in Ankara features a map with
the correct border line."
