Women, roses in their hands, requested votes

DEHAP female candidates meet with women from every section of the society in Urfa, Antep, Van, Dersim, Mersin and Istanbul, handing out roses with the slogan "Every vote is a rose of democracy".

DIHA/URFA/MERSIN/DERSIM

DEHAP female candidates handed out roses together with other women in holy place Balikligol, Urfa.

Urfa candidates Ayse Gokhan and Zuhre Tatli, together with a group of women, visited Balikligol artisans and handed out roses. Gokhan said, "There are 102 female candidates in our lists of candidates. Therefore we say that every vote is a rose of democracy and hand out roses at this holy place where fire turns into water, trees turn into fish." DEHAP women handed out roses in Antep too. Coming together at Balikli Park, about 50 women asked for the people to vote for DEHAP, chanting slogans "Vote for democracy", "Vote for the rose" and "Every vote is a rose of democracy." They also handed out leaflets.

And in Dersim DEHAP Women's Wing handed out roses. DEHAP women in national attires visited voters, leaflets and roses in their hands. They put roses into the Freedom Monument.

DEHAP women did the same thing in Van. They toured along the streets and handed out roses.

Mersin and Istanbul

And in Mersin DEHAP candidate Sevahir Bayindir and a group of women organized a press conference with roses and leaflets as usual. Bayindir stated that they had set off with the slogan "Every vote is a rose of democracy". "We hand out roses in order to remind women that they are roses" said the candidate.

Roses were in Istanbul too. In Taksim a group of women handed out roses, marching to Istiklal Street with applause and "zilgit". They were accompanied by female musicians.

Altun: People carry our march towards power

DEHAP Peace Convoy completed the first stage in Kilis after addressing at meetings in 25 provinces. The convoy also attended to tens of opening ceremonies. They were welcome by ten thousands of people everywhere.

DEHAP Batman candidate Nurhayat Altun related the treatment of the people: "We have been touring for days. I can say this: Our people carry our march towards power with the slogan 'from denial to power'. We have met a million people. People reclaimed DEHAP. They displayed their demand for democratisation clearly by their slogans, signs and their exuberance. We feel the excitement of meeting people, going to place we have never been. Siverek, Maras, Tatvan, Kilis, Kars, Dersim… People in villages. For me a historical page has been written. The people has written down their history of struggle for democratisation, education in mother tongue and most importantly their march towards freedom. We have witnessed especially the toil, efforts and leadership of the women, youth."

"Women and youth on the front"

Drawing attention that women and youth were on the front place at every meeting and opening ceremony, Nurhayat Altun continued her words by saying the following: "That our female candidates are mostly the first in the lists caused a steady flow of women to our party. Especially women in villages said that they would give their votes for us. I believe that politics will be re-organized under the leadership of woman. We are focus of interest. In Yuksekove, for example people from ANAP premises threw flowers to us. Village guards greeted us. Even there are people who have said they will resign from their parties to work together with us."

Support from Batman Women's Platform

Batman Women's Platform stated that on the elections they would support the party that included the most female candidates. The women in Batman organized a press conference, saying that they would support female candidates.

Reading the press statement on behalf of the Platform, Saadet Becerikli said the following: "We as Batman Women's Platform, ask for a new constitution that meets the demand for free education and health care, is democratic. It is our natural right that we are represented in the parliament. We call on all women to support the female candidates."
