The talks were conducted in a humble, democratic and conciliatory spirit for the cherished goals of a future Iraq- democratic, pluralistic, federal and united-, addressing the Kurdish question and issues of peace and security in the Middle East.

During the discussion both parties were in full accord concerning their stance on issues of the global democratic transformation, the need to combat terrorism, fanaticism and dictatorship. Both parties affirm that new developments must be seized and utilized for the benefit of the people of Iraq and Kurdistan.

The meeting agreed to establish four working committees for the purposes of: preparing a joint project on the concept of federalism; internal normalization of Kurdistan region; security issues and devising a common policy on the regional and international levels regarding the new developments.

It also decided that the Kurdistan National Assembly would be convened on October 4, 2002, in the parliament chamber in Arbil, with the full participation of the two major parliamentary blocks, together with that of the Purple (Christian) block. The procedural mechanism for the conduct of the National Assembly business was agreed upon.

A number of decisions were made with regard to the participation of other Kurdistani political parties and forces in the national and democratic efforts; the strengthening of ties and solidarity between the people of Iraq and the Kurdistan liberation movement within the Iraqi opposition for the benefit of a better future Iraq and for the legitimate rights of Kurds, Turkomen, Assyrians and Caldeans.

The two parties affirmed their joint commitment to strengthen relations with the neighboring countries on the basis of friendship, fraternity and non-interference in internal affairs of others.
